enclosure phone jacks

I have a Stamp application where I need to mount a phone jack on an
enclosure so I can plug it into the telephone line. Something this simple
shouldn't be difficult...

But all the jacks I have found require a square hole in the enclosure, and
the PC mount jacks do not fit .1" PCBs!

Is there a simple solution? Or do I have to cut square holes in the
enclosure (with a file?), and then make some kind of adapter so the jack
pins will fit the PCB holes?

    Hi Jay,

One possible solution is to crimp a RJ11 male connector on a short piece of
    4-wire and soldering
the free end of that cable onto the pcb. Then use a female/female RJ11
coupler to provide a RJ11 socket
for the pcb. Then just place a RJ11 male/male cable between the pcb socket
    and the wall socket.
All you need to figure out is which wires to place where on the pcb.

    Greetings peter

If you can find a PCB that has a header on one end for a DB9 or DB25 the
pc-mount jack should work. Otherwise modifying the existing board or cutting
a hole for the other jack would be your best bet.

Most that I have seen require a rectangular hole or slot in the edge of the
panel. They are available, however, with leads that can be soldered into the
holes in the pc board. Berg is one manufacturer but there are several others.
    Hope this helps,
