Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has used the programming cradle for the
quadravox sound chips that parallax is selling now. I've used the
chip with the pre-programmed sounds no problem.
However, when trying to record my own sounds I'm having trouble
getting it to work. After following the set up instructions in the
docs, I create a project with the files that I want. When I go to the
record/playback window I can record the files - the red led lights
up, and I can faintly hear the files as they are recorded. Also, If I
take the sound out from my computer and send it to a speaker, I can
hear the files clearly. However, when I use the playback function,
all I can hear is static with the faint sound of my file playing in
the background. I've fiddled with the sound out levels on my computer
and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Does anyone have any ideas on what to try next to get this to work?

I had the same problem when using the programming cradle with my
laptop. The problem seemed to be that the laptop didn't really have
a "Line Out" from the sound card. I switched to my desktop system,
found the "Line Out" jack on the SoundBlaster card, and the problem was
solved.
