Integrate Basic StampII with Dartboard

Anybody,
I am looking at hooking up a Basic Stamp to read from a dartboard
and Simultaneously (or close to) feed that information to the
computer via rs-232. The dartboard has 16 connections that need to be
output to the Stamp.
Is it possible to just tap each connection right to the Stamp and
program to check for pulses, or do I need components between them?
I am a novice, but extremely driven to get this working. Any help
would be much appreciated!
