Hello List Members,
All attachments sent to these lists will now be deleted by Yahoo
Groups. This should prevent any virus or worm from being sent
directly. It is still a good idea to use anti-virus software and disable
automatic execution of scripts and programs from your email client.
There is a file area available on each Yahoo Groups website that may be
used by list members to share files.

That is really a bad idea.
When I subscribed to the Basic Stamps list, it was not managed by Yahoo
and, as far as I remember, I did not fill any private information to be
accepted.
Now, to get access to the files, Yahoo requests a lot of infos, not relevant to
the list security and intended, I suppose, to inflate their mailing list.
I don't agree with this.
Regards
ECO

My experience with Yahoo "files" has shown that after a while
a file not found error surfaces. Yahoo may have a time limit
or a size limit. In addition viri can still get in there.
How about one of those free "on-line hard drives" in addition
to Yahoo files ?

_accurate_ personal information). Then join Yahoo with that hotmail account.
You don't ever have to check the hotmail account after you verify your
e-mail with yahoo. Tell the group sign up that you don't want e-mail and
then you can log in to Yahoo to get files without really giving up personal
information.
Another great Spam tool is at www.spammotel.com. This lets you get e-mail at
your address, but track who is selling your address and block it selectively
as well. All free.

EXCELLENT! No more multi-hundred K-byte pictures!
I guess I'm from the old school - include code snippets within the text of
the email and show simple schematics with ASCII characters.
It makes a HUGE difference on those occasions when I have to get my email
from a dial-up account.

through this with several lists that started on elists and wound up on
Yahoo.

No, you don't need to give Yahoo any info except the email address
to mail to. Just sign up by sending mail from the address you want
subscribed to the list to (for example)
