ESC again- Rating?

Hobby/RC ESC's are typically rated for so many cells and so many
motor turns. The more generous suppliers actually tell us volts and
amps.
Question: Most of these ESC's are "rated" at 7.2 or 8.4 volts. Any
reason to think they'll fry at 12 to 14v? Anyone have experience?

32 cells. most manufactures spec the
number of cells the ESC's will handle (1.2 volts per cell)

Personally, I would build my own H-bridges or buy a robot-specific control
module like the MotorMind B or the kits Mondo Tronics sells.
