Does anyone know where I can buy more than 1 at a time.
I left my stamp project plugged into a tripplite surge suppressor that was
switched off while I was out of town for the week. When I returned MY
adxl202 will only give me an accurate x axis reading if the y axis is tilted
45 degrees. I will assume that the sensor was damaged by lightning from
tropical storm Allison.
In any event, Analog devices limits you to single piece purchases of
evaluation boards. That is $41 per copy when you add the $11 shipping. Why
the tight rein on the evaluation boards?
Is there an alternative sensor that might be more durable than the analog
version? All of the other components on the breadboard survived the "event"
Thanks
Jeff

The 202 is the state-of-the-art presently, with the 202e available in a chip
scale package which is as small as you can go without specialized
chip-on-board, etc. They're pretty durable if you don't drop them on a
hard surface.
I suspect the single piece eval board philosophy is based on the idea that
buyers will generate a cool application from prototyping on the eval board,
and then purchase the 202 chips in large quantities. You might find it cost
effective to design a small circuit board instead of buying more eval
boards, and have it built by one of the prototype houses discussed
frequently on this list. If so, sell it to the rest of us :) .
I'll be doing something similar later this summer, thanks to a new SBIR
grant from the NIH.

have a minimum order value but a single chip is worth more than that so its
not a problem .
They told me that analog devices is one of the few companys that allow the
distributors to break the packs they come in.
Maybe you could check the local distributors in your area??
As for making your own board its very easy as its only 3 caps and 1 resistor
needed. I have a basic PCB on my web site.
Also maybe you might want ot check my home page and see what im trying to do
with the chip. ( maybe give some sugestions.)
