Just started, Connected P0 to the +5V·rail when trying to setup an LCD display. Have I fried the BST2 or the LCD. Any commets welcome, be nice I am not·well diversed in electronics. Just having fun by purchasing·a StampWorks kit from Parallax and made it to Experiment #11: A basic LCD Demonstratiion. Quote unQuote after loading the code nothing visualy hapened and then I realized (after checking), I had connected the LCD·"E" pin at the junction of·a 4.7K resitor·ground wire to the +5V rail. The schematics:

P4 --- D4
P5 --- D5
P6 --- D6
P7 --- D7

P0 --- * --- E
········· |
······· 4.7K
········· |
···· Ground (ScrewUp connected to +5V)

P3 --- RS

Ground

I do not· know the consequenences of connecting the ground to a vlotage in this case and need to now if I have damaged the PS2 or the LCD. Any help would be greatful.

Thanks,

    Hi,

If I understand correctly you tied the Stamp's P0 directly to +5V
while it is used to control the E input of the LCD.
This may have damaged your P0 output as soon as it was pulled low,
creating a short between +5V and ground.
See if the P0 still switches without the LCD using a simple testprogram.

    Greetings peter

    Thanks,

I went back to the begining and could still flash an LED using P0, rewired
the LCD and ran the program, still didn't display anything on the LCD. When
all else fails adjust the brightness control, simple problem simple
solution. Thanks for your reply, it redirected me to the beginning and I
    realized my mistake.
