Hi,
I have been using a older compaq laptop to do the programming of my BS2
projects. Today I unplugged a motor running on my BS2 project and now it
seems that it has caused my laptop serial port to no longer function.
Are there any programs to test the port?
Is there a buffer I can build that will seamlessly work in between my BS2 and
my PS?
thanks for any info.

need a loopback adapter. You could just do this:
1. Take a DB9 or DB25 (which ever you need)
2. Short pins 2 and 3 together
3. Plug it into the PC
4. Bring up hyperterminal, set it for direct connection to the COM port with
no handshaking.
5. Make sure hyperterminal is set NOT to echo characters locally
6. Type. You should see what you type. If you don't, the port is bad. Of
course, if hyperterminal refuses to open the port then something else is
going on (something is holding the port open, for example).
