Cable Channels and the Stamp?

Greetings fellow oxygen breathers,
Does anyone know where I could go to learn more about how to distribute
a video signal on a specific channel on local cable? No, I'm not talking
about a broadcast signal, I mean within my house. I'm wiring all of the
rooms together and plan on putting a small-scale video monitoring system
together for it, which uses servos and controls to pan the cameras (done
thanks to the STAMP!). But now I'm stuck with more video signals than
channels I'm able to distribute on out of the box. I get four channels
out of the box, but I have 8 cameras.
So, does anyone know how to do this, or where I can start learning about
it?
Thanks,
-Chilton

Channel Plus (and other brands) makes RF "combiners" that lets you mix a
couple of baseband video channels into a cable or antenna signal on unused
channels. I've never seen an 8 channel unit. The 3 channel units are very
expensive. You can find base-band surveillance video switchers on Ebay. I
bought a sixteen channel GYYR switcher, modified it's RS-422 input for IR
remote control using a Basic Stamp 2, then used remote control extenders
around the house to control it. It's output is fed into one input on my
Channel Plus RF distribution unit. The other channel of the Channel Plus (it
has two inputs) is fed by my entertainment A/V system video switcher, which
I can also control from any room.
Hope that gives you some ideas.

myself? Right now the 'ops' room looks like a yard sale at Radio Shack
(zillions of components all interconnected). I'd love to be able to just
build this stuff into one giant box, if for no other reason than
bragging rights :-)

A little more info on my system:
I originally built a sixteen channel surveillance camera switcher using a
Basic Stamp 2. It communicated with the VFD display, BOB II character
generator, and NCD Asel switcher modules using 5 volt RS232. In retrospect,
I would've used video crosspoint chips from Maxim. They give away free
samples and are specifically designed for this stuff.
As soon as I finished building my switcher, I found the GYYR multiplexer on
Ebay, bought it, and redesigned my whole project. I'm now designing the
camera pan, tilt, zoom and focus remote controls using the Stamp 2, and RF
remote modules from Rentron (gonna make everything wireless). I'm
incorporating those controls into the original IR remote that now controls
the GYYR multiplexer.
