Basic Stamp Power

I've got a very simple program but want to move my basic stamp from the
carrier to a PCB. I have a 9v power adapter now and will probably use the
same for the PCB. Can I just use a LM2940CT-5 for the regulator or do I
need anything else? Does anyone have a simple power circuit for this type
of application?
