When I try to download a program (ALT-R) to a BS1-IC Rev B, STAMP.EXE
reports "hardware not found". Parallel cable, power supply and PCB
are the same I used previously without problems, but I have a new PC,
a Dell OptiPlex GX110. My previous PC was a Compaq laptop.
The problem reminds me of a Digital laptop, which suffered from the
same problem. Parallax tech support told me it's a known issue and
remedied with a few components. They promised to fax me the details,
but I never got the fax. I left it at that, since the Digital made
way for the Compaq, which was fine.
I am wondering if I'm now plagued by the same problem? Has anyone had
similar experiences and managed to fix the problem?

Sadly, I don't have my old PC anymore.
I did receive reply from Parallax. No circuit diagram either, but a
Word document with general advice on fixing software problems.
It says the DOS stamp software won't work in an NT DOS window. I have
W2K, but I took the advice anyhow and booted from a MS-DOS 6 system
disk (amazing that I could still find one). It didn't solve my
problem, but now the error message is different: "EEPROM error".
Which one did you get, "hardware not found" or "EEPROM error"?
My old BS1 is fine - my last project, uploaded two years ago, still
works.

+5 pin on the processor. If its low, pull the processor. If it goes back up,
the processor is bad.
