OT power supplies

Hi,
<general>
I'm my stumbling experience doing stuff with the stamp, I seem to be
often stumped by my lack of knowledge in dealing with power supplies.
Can anyone recommend a good book/web site that I could use to
increase my knowledge? Also, does anyone know of good beginners
electronics mailing list, so I can stop wasting bandwidth with off
topic electronics questions?
</general>
<specific>
I'm building a project that needs power to run a stamp+motor mind
chip, and a fairly noisy motor. I want to isolate the motor for the
chips, but I can't use batteries. How do you turn one power source
into two isolated power sources?
</specific>
thanks for your time,
Mark
