Anyone have any inside info on the new Java Stamp? Parallax is being
pretty quiet about it.

    Hi Steve,

Parallax was passing out a cut sheet on the j-stamp at the embedded
systems show in April. It had the same preliminary information as
    the j-stamp URL:
    <http://www.j-stamp.net>
Ken was aggrevated because some other company at the show was also
developing a knock-off on the idea.

BTW, the Parallax booth at the embedded systems show was very
animated. That goes for both the displays and the people there.
    Check out the description at...

Thanks for the info. I wondered why there wasn't any info on the
Parallax site. Should've figured there'd be a separate site.

It's odd, though. Looking at the picture of the module (the one in
the 2001 Parallax catalog), I can't figure out where the 32K of RAM
is located. The microcontroller in the picture (SX48BD) doesn't
contain anywhere near that much memory. The only thing I can think of
is that the 8-pin chip on the module doubles as both RAM and EEPROM.

Looking at the traces on the module, it looks like the J-Stamp is
    pin-compatible with the BasicStamp2. I hope that's true; it'll make
it a lot easier to adapt current projects to the new module.

The only other bit of info I could gather from looking at the pictures
is that, at one point, the product was called "Javelin".

I don't suppose anyone here is a beta tester? 7:^)

I had worked closly with Parallax on a commercial release project. They have
been very protective of the J-Stamp and in releaseing specifics. From what I
gather it will definatly take Stampping to the next level though. I am
    greatly anticipating its release.
