Parallax is ordering some more chassis for our Boe-Bots. We have the option
of getting these in plain brushed aluminum or anodized in assorted colors.
If you were buying a Boe-Bot, would you want the chassis to be anodized even
if you couldn't choose the color? Anodizing would be at no extra cost to the
customer. Either style (plain aluminum or anodized) may be painted.
We can't decide. Please give us your input.

I wouldent want yellow or green for example, but black or blue might be cool.

Same here. I've got two BOE chassis which are the good 'ol aluminium which
is fine, but I would love an anodized chassis. But only if I could pick the
colour. So yes, anodize 'em!

Don't know what aluminum alloy you're using but some anodize
better than others. As I remember 6061 and 5056(a very weak Mg/Al
alloy) anodize well and take the coloring dye real well.
Seems like the 7000 and 2000 series either don't look very good or
don't anodize as well or only can be dyed black.
The aluminum oxide of the anodize will sometimes, actually a lotta
the time prevents good conduction of electricity, so you might want
to either mask or spot face areas for ground connections or the like.
For some background research the anodize mil spec might be useful:
MIL-A-8625.
There is another corrosion protection for aluminum called Alodine,
MIL-C-5541, but don't know if it should be used in the home. Don't
know for sure if the Alodine itself is toxic, but the tanks for it
sure are. Its thin and cheap, but conducts electricity well and can
be dyed too.
Hope you don't mind my unsolicited .02.
