"Art" Stamps in Class Series?

Hello Stamper,

Many of our customers are using the BASIC Stamp in their art projects. For
example, take a look at Ken Rinaldo's web sites http://128.146.179.220/ and
http://www.cgrg.ohio-state.edu/~rinaldo/ Artists are doing all sorts of neat
things with Stamps (and kitchen sinks, miscellaneous steel, lights, etc.).
For Parallax this has become a large customer base (particularly in
universities) and we would like to support artists much more. Art projects
not only attract women to Stamps but they also diversify our customer base.

This summer we would would like to work with an artist to prepare a Stamps
in Class (www.stampsinclass.com) curricula for "Art". Art is something which
we know very little about, though we have some clues what types of circuits
they like to build from looking at their projects. In many ways their
circuits are well documented (i.e., Microcontroller Application Cookbook,
Stampworks, AppNotes, etc.). Perhaps this documentation is more than
adequate for artists? Therefore, we have a few questions to ask interested
parties:

(a) Would you find an Art curricula useful, particularly if you teach
art/electronics together?

(b) What if the curricula involved building a fun little gizmo that
demonstrated several common circuits and code? Could you envision some
interesting hardware that we could provide with a kit?

(c) Are you an artist and would you be interested in working with us? Must
be able to write well and draw schematics. Could you work on a project that
had review by other artists?

Respond to this list if it is for public consumption, else direct your
responses to stampsinclass@p.... We envision starting this
project on June 1 and finishing August 30th.

Sincerely,

Ken Gracey, Parallax, Inc.
