URGENT LCD help.......

Please i need help all i need is for someone to explain simply how to hook
up a 2x16 parallel lcd to my basic stamp 2 just for it to say a few basic
things

    That's for a Hitachi compatible - Exactly what type do you have? The
    easiest way is to use the "Back pack" type units that have their own
    onboard logic (see http://www.seetron.com for an example)

    As i said im a newbie at it and i dont understand that

    I have got the basic LCD working with the pre writtin Code but dont understand how to simply make the LCD say 2 or 3 different things when i ask it

    would someone please explain ?
