watering plants

I'd like to create an automatic watering system for some hard to
reach plants in our house. One option is to have the water higher
than the plants and use a valve. The other option is to run a small
pump. No a/c is available at the site so battery power is a must.
Anyone know where I might find valve/pump parts for such a project?

Thanks,

Jim Margarit

Try www.grainger.com - if they don't have it, it probably isn't made.

How about a 12V automotive windshield washer pump?

Jameco had some pumps and valves in their catalog also -- probably alot
    cheaper than Grainger.

    Jameco items:

P/N 169834 -- 12v valve -- didn't say if this was for air or water
    P/N 176321 -- 6v air pump -- you could pressurize a container and force
    water to the plants.

Somebody used to make a battery-powered plant sprayer -- I think it was
Hudson. Might find one dumpster diving and cannibalize the parts.

Edmund offers a 3 volt centrifugal pump that we used for the Earth
Measurements demos in Stampsinclass. It's a start...

    a better, submersible 12v pump:

The windshield wiper pump sounds like a good bet, cheap too!
