Can anyone tell me if there exists a detailed, complete, step-by-step
instruction guide for any project using the Basic Stamp 2?
I'm a complete newbie, and don't know many of the terms used in this
forum in reference to microcontrollers.

Different applications require different step-by-step instructions. Best
place to start is with the programming syntax at Parallax using their Basic
Stamp Manual which can be viewed in PDF format [
http://www.parallaxinc.com/html_files/downloads/download.htm ]. There are
some other documents that might be useful there as well.

Read the Manual.

Darren,
I'm pretty much a newbie compared to many on this list! It has been a very
valuable resource for me.
My suggestion would be to get Parallax's "What's a Microcontroller" book. It
takes you through several stamp projects, and really helped me a lot. There
are also the samples contained in the Stamp Manuals. These have also come in
very handy. For instance, there is a project for controlling a train via a
Stamp. I've never had a need to control a train, however, the application
can be used for many other things....all you need is imagination and
curiosity!
Hope this helps.

You can download the StampWorks book from Parallax. ·Once you've worked
through 31 projects, you'll be in pretty good shape to tackle your own.
