BSI Hardware not found

I am trying to connect my BSI to my IBM Laptop. Everytime I try to
do anything I get a hardware not found error. I tryed changing my
parallel port configurations and none of them worked. Does anyone
know why my computer can't talk to the chip? Thankyou.

I had a similar problem with the BS2, it generated
the same error. Make sure you are using the right
editor/compiler, every chip has its own editor. Make
sure your stamp is properly power-up and did you make
your own cable or are you using the cable that came
with the stamp?

I did build my own cable and have quarouple checked the pins, To
debug I put 2way LEDs in series between the port and pin on the BSI I
also put an LED on the 7th output pin. Pin 1 works, shows power in.
Pin 2 is thr ground and that also checks out. Pin 3 in PCOut and
that also shows a signal in. Pin 4, the pcin, doesn't show
anything. If I remove the LED from the 7th output the LED inbetween
the power supply and pin 1 goes off. I am running the STAMP compiler
in DOS and have the parallel port in bi-directional. When I go to
run the program I get a window with a status bar that say connecting
and then a few seconds later in will say "error hardware not found",
Thankyou for any help.

············How are you....I have the same problem with my lap top (NEC
Versa Vxi Celeron 550) ... This been happening for the past 6 months and I
cant figure out what the problem is. The problem is not the stamp... I've
tried every thing and nothing works. ·If you do ·figure out this problem
please let me know......

Myabe it has something to do with the comp being a laptop because
I've heard a lot about problems like this and laptops. I have an IBM
running a celeron as well. I called the tech support and my coimp
settings are correct but since I don't have a meter yet(I'm a newbie)
I couldn't test the pins. I'm going to break out my old mac G3 and
see if I can get it to work on there.

when I got one on monday(after easter vacation). I could check them.
I'm trying to hook it up to a Mac G3 now with even less luck. I'll
post them here when I get the email from paral. Thanks.
