ssc12 and bs2

I am using a bs2 on the next step board to control 8 servos on the
ssc12. I'm new at programming, but I hooked one servo up the the
next step and wrote a program to test it and it worked. Now I want
to hook up the ssc12 to the next step, and am having problems. I
connected the J-A and J-B jumpers on the next step to use the led's,
but I don't know how to implement the ssc12. Do I plug the S(I/O)
and Ground pins into the respective heads for LED 0 on the next step?
If so, how do I state in the program for the next step to read from
LED 0?
