sorry. what dose x mean?

I got the specs for the max7219 from parallax, and in some of the
tables it has the hex code but it has a x in front if it.
x0
x1
x2
xa
xb
xc

dose x mean anything from 0-f or dose it mean something else?

thank you
tony

x is shorthand for "hex" or "hexadecimal"

otherwise it's hard to tell what people mean when say things like "it has a
value of 35".... um, 35 HEX or 35 decimal?

In general, if there is no designation, we mean the number is decimal,
otherwise people place an x either before or after the number.... as in x35
    or 35x

Experience indicates the preference for before/after comes from the
individual's language background and the syntax required in that language.
