Hi.

This looks similar to one I tried. Ideal for end-of-tape marker readers /
line followers and so on but not so good for proximity due to the incredibly
short range (2-3mm).

I stand to be corrected, however [noparse]:)[/noparse]

You could buy a working Sonar unit from acroname, the unit has a 3cm to 3
meter range
http://www.acroname.com/robotics/parts/R93-SRF04.html $25 They have software
code for the stamps as well.
