Since RF travels near light speed, in order to have a 150 mm resolution,
you will need to measure time differences so short as 0.000000000005 sec
!!!!!.

I want to try and build a system that can·determine the coordinates of· a RC Car on a track, the track will be approx 6 Meters (18') x 6 Meters (18)' and there could be up to 4 cars on the track at once, the resolution would need to be within say 150mm (6 inches)
I was thinking that I could have a Stamp located on each car transmitting its own ID Number say every second via some form of RF link and then by using·3 receivers calculate the time between the initial signal and the subsequent signals to work out the Coordinates· / X,Y Grid reference ?
or would it be better to have 2 transmitters located at the corners of the Track and have the onboard stamp calculate the position and send the data via a second RF Link to a PC for display ?
Any thoughts , Ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated.
