new fire fighter for contest.

I'm looking for advice about fire detection equipment that will
locate
a flame (candle). There are at least two items to choose from. They
are the Eltec Pyroelectric Sensor Package and the Hamamatsu UVTron
Flame Detector Package. Neither of these packages maybe enough, as
one fellow needed an additional phototransistor-photocell pair to get
a heading towards the candle.

There is a local fire fighting contest in Huntsville Al this month
and
it's going to be a rush to get everything running to compete. Any
and
all help will be appreciated.

Check the link. It will probably help...
    http://www.acroname.com/robotics/parts/R3-PYRO1.html

Do you have any Pros n Cons between the two sensors. That is the
Eltec Pyroelectric Sensor Package and the Hamamatsu UVTron
    Flame Detector Package?

Looks like I'll need an AD converter for the Pyroelectric sensor.
    I'm
not sure UVTron. When I went to the Acroname web site, they really
like the rugwarrior interface and they don't mention the basic stamp
    for the uvtron.

    All comments are appreciated.
    Thanks

I am not familiar with the Hamamatsu sensor.I just happen to be
investigating the offerings that I might use for a vision system. Before you
splurge on the Eltec part, you may want to check these two links also.

    http://www.glolab.com/pirparts/pirparts.html
    http://www.plazaearth.com/usr/gasperi/pyro.htm

The PIR sensor offered by Glolab is only $4. The drawback is that it
requires a bit of hardware to support it. The good news is that the second
link herein shows details of a successful application, and some good notes.
I would suggest at least reading these also before making a decision.
