Hey everybody,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I've finally got the
March/February GoRobotics.net update done. I appreciate everyone's patience.
In this update I've added articles on:

http://www.gorobotics.net/smallbot.shtml - Building A Simple, Cheap, and
Small Robot
http://www.gorobotics.net/mazebot3.shtml - Building A (what used to be) Maze
Solving Robot part 3
http://www.gorobotics.net/servoencoder.shtml - Update on the servo encoder
article
http://www.gorobotics.net/bookcontest.shtml - Win a signed copy of Gordon
McComb's _Robot Builder's Bonanza_
http://www.gorobotics.net/robosapiensreview.shtml - Review of Robosapiens
http://www.gorobotics.net/aboutus.shtml - About Us
http://www.gorobotics.net/commet.shtml - Comment about the site
http://www.gorobotics.net/contributingauthors.shtml - Contributing authors
bios and articles

Don't forget to vote in our new poll - "Do you think the faltering US
economy will affect amateur robotics in any way?"
Thanks again. We're always looking for authors, news, and whatever goodies
you come up with!
-William

P.S. If you don't think this is appropriate subject matter for this list
please tell me. I just figure people might want to know.

Depending on what size motors you are using, Digikey had some small DC
motors with a tach connection on them. I wish I would have seen them before
I committed to another motor and encoder.

I still building the hardware for my robot, but we stole some 100-slot
encoder wheels and opto-interrupters from work -- hopefully they will work
    out.

I'm gonna snap some photos later and put them on my web page.

    Hi,
I read your maze solving article. I thought it was quite interesting. I
have almost the exact IR emitter-detector setup and it works quite well. I
too am having the problem of solving a maze reliably as my robot is using DC
motors and there is no feedback encoder incorporated. Just thought that I
would let you know that I personally enjoyed the article.
    Regards,
    Jim

You don't happen to know the digikey webpage or item number do you? Thanks,
    Jim

    http://www.digikey.com/

I'll need to check to be sure that was where I saw them -- I didn't find the
    motors in their online stuff.

Thanks for the encouragement! I worked hours and hours on trying to get the
stupid thing not to hit the walls. I finally decided that the only way I
could do it without spending an arm and a leg would be to redesign the whole
thing. Let me know if you make any progress.
