Another 4-20mA problem to solve

I've been reading the messages on current loops, and here's something
related. Perhaps someone has done this before...
I want to put a packaged process controller output (4-20 mA) into an ADC,
then into a Stamp pin. The various brands of controllers use different
no-load voltages, and these drop down to 2 or 3 volts at, say a 500 ohm
impedence. Is there a simple way to get a linear voltage out of this?
