PCB exposure

I just received my first batch of positive acting presensitized PCB, and
on the package it says "exposing time only eight minutes under fluorescent
light" does this mean I have to set up my transparency in the dark? Will an
incandescent bulb expose the film? I was under the impression that I needed
a special UV exposure bulb, but this package sounds like any old Fluorescent
will do.

Hi jeff: I do this often, and have submitted an article on the process to N&V.
You may use a standard desktop flourescent lamp, with the lens removed. I
use an F15 model, placed 3 inches above my circuit. I expose for 20 minutes.
The Pre-sensitized board gives times also.
You need not worry about normal room light, while placing your board, and
getting things ready, they dont expose that fast in room light. I do turn
off direct overhead lamps, just to be safe. Dont peal off the plastic film
layer until you are actually ready to develop it. In my room, I have a
single Incandescent lamp that is about 5 feet away from where my circuit is
to be developed and I never had any premature exposures.
    Good luck

Have you seen my article in Circuit Cellar Inc? I use a negative acting PCB
from Kepro. The boards are exposed to UV from a lamp for 60 seconds.
