How to Debug BS2 ??

Failing to establish serial communication with the BS2. Can you help
me in checking the health of BS2. Is it possible to build a simple
circuit to check the PIC.
One other question if I may. How come when I use the identity
function in the stamp2.exe the program recognize the hardware as BS2
with firmware 1.0 BUT fail to communicate with the chip throu the
serial port. ( I tried all the tips and tricks in the forum It took 3
days to conclude that it MUST be the BS2 itself )
