If it is pin efficieny that you want, try the
chip:LM3914. Ive used this one and like it vey much.
It is a serial LED dot/bar display driver that is
available just about anywhere. It will drive 10 LEDSs
or ttl level devices. you can order it from
Radioshack for ~$3.00 CAT#900-6840
or try:MM5451. Same deal but you can drive 34 LEDs.
Radioshack cat#900-6843 ~#5.00
They have several others also but this gives you an
idea. these were found in there commercial catalog
