Data Transfer between Stamps...

Hi all of you.
I want to transfer data serially from one BS2 to another BS2 using a
1 wire like conection, the problem is: Do I need a special hardware to do
this? or there is another way to solve this using resistors?, btw, I'm
powering them from two separated wall regulators, I mean, they're in the
same AC electrical net.
I tried to transfer data linkin' them directly pin to pin with
-Vss's conected together on the BOE's, then I sended a "30" serially at
9600bps but the input on the other side was continuosly changing until I
posed my hand over the stamps. What was wrong? I think the input was
floating.
Can you help me? thanx!!
