Hi Gene,

1) Have reviewed your info and you are using the 741 in the non-inverting
follower
configuration. Have not used 741 at low supply voltages such as what you
are
using but have used at +/- 10 volts and above and never encountered
problems.

2) Also suggest you use ceramic by-pass caps of 0.1mfds, one from each
supply
connection (plus and minus) to ground as close to the op amp as you can
get.
This is good engineering design practice.

3) As mentioned by another respondee, rjmca, the 741 may not be a good
choice for this application. Suggest you look into devices made by Analog
Devices or
Linear Technology (both have a very wide selection of devices to choose
from)
and find something more suitable.

4) Do you have a background in the analog world and are you comfortable
using op
amps? There are many excellant books dealing with the analog world, how
is
your analog library?
