Do trim pins need to be connected

I'm hooking up a couple ICs to my BS2, an opamp Burr Brown OPA27, a REF102,
and a INA101, can I leave the offset trim pins disconnected?

Or should you follow Forrest Mims advice and
hook up all unused pins to either Vcc or Vss.

The INA101 has pins called sense, do these need
to go to Vcc or Vss.

The whole idea is to get some strain gage output and A to D it with a
LTC1298 and have the BS2 do different things with digital data
with the branch command.

Thanks,

Mark

    Hi Mark,
For the REF02 and OPA27, you leave the trim pins float for most apps. Do
NOT tie them hi or lo. Forrest Mims' advice applies to unused logic-IC
input pins. I couldn't find data on the 1NA101 ... what is it, and who
    makes it?

    Hi Ray,

The INA101 is an instrument amp made by Burr Brown, here's a link to the
    pdf.

    http://www-s.ti.com/sc/psheets/sbos133/sbos133.pdf

It seems like a really cool IC to me, I tried hooking it up with 12v and 250
ohm resistors instead of the 357 ohm resistors, but only got -11.6v on the
output, used a 470 gage resistor.

I'm having trouble finding a +15, -15 pwr supply, am thinking about using a
couple of 5v to +-15v DC/DC converters like these.

    Thanks Ray.

    Mark

    Hi Mark,
I took a quick look at those links. The INA101 can have the offset pins
open for most apps. The Gain-sense pins are jumpered to the Gain-set pins
as shown on the 1st page of the data sheet. They only spec it for +/-15
volts, so I guess you are stuck with those voltages.

The DC-DC units might work, but, being switchers, they are noisier than
linear supplies, which could give you problems in this kind of sensitive
circuit. I would look for a linear. Have you checked out surplus houses
like Marlin P Jones? Sometimes you can find wall-plug linear regulated
    supplies.

    Good luck,
    Ray McArthur
