connection
o EEPROM storage of settings, six custom characters, and a text screen that
can be automatically displayed at startup (splash screen)
o Serial control of the standard LED backlight
o Output for a piezo buzzer that responds to the ASCII bell character
o Low current draw; 5mA (backlight off) to 40mA (backlight on).
o Automatic right-alignment features for easy spreadsheet-style formatting
of frequently updated data fields

Microcontroller Application Cookbook - Free with $250 order
===============================================
Free ($29 value) with all www.parallaxinc.com weekend orders (before
midnight PST January 21st) exceeding $250!
Matt Gilliland’s Microcontroller Application Cookbook is a wide-ranging
collection of 113 interface circuits designed around the BASIC Stamp II. For
somebody getting started with microcontrollers, designing the circuit can be
the most challenging part of building a project. Sifting through timing
diagrams trying to figure out how to interface an A/D converter or
controlling a high-voltage circuit with a solid state relay can be a
challenge.
With this book you’ll be able to assemble a circuit casserole from a
collection of ingredients. Suppose you wanted to automate your greenhouse.
The book includes examples of controlling solenoid valves with solid state
relays (water distribution), simple DC-motor control with H-bridge circuits
(roof vents), linear temperature sensors, humidity sensors and photocells.
Cook up an application that waters the plants in the morning, opens the
greenhouse vents when it’s too hot or humid and powers the microcontroller
from solar energy!
Students and educators will find the book to be an instant reference of
circuits. For electronic designers it provides a variety of simple circuits
and interface code that can be customized for more advanced uses. Published
by Woodglen Press - 248 pp.

StampWorks 1.1 Text and code for all BS2 BASIC Stamps!
===============================================
StampWorks 1.1 is now available for download from www.parallaxinc.com.
"Stamp Applications" Author Jon Williams has improved the text with
additional technical explanations, improved schematics, and code for all
BASIC Stamp 2 modules (BS2-IC, BS2e-IC, BS2SX-IC, BS2p-IC). Download the
code and text from our web site. The StampWorks kit is $349, but if you
don't want to purchase the kit you can still learn his coding practices by
downloading the text.
