I noticed use of a Radio Shack Digital Pedometer ($15)
as a counter of cosmic rays in the current Scientific
American Amateur Scientist column. They tell how to
dig out the gravity switch and connect wires... about
5 pps max speed - perhaps digging inside would speed
this up. Anyhow it looks like a good deal - lots of
digits for little money.. [there are also dedicated
counters for more money in DigiKey listings... smaller
digits...]. Could be useful in varous stamp projects.

more digits than the Radio Shack version, for about $10 more at Fry's. It
also has an FM radio with scan circuit that could be useful.
