Mouse Optical Quadrature Encoder

Have someone dismantled a mouse and used its optical quadrature rotary
encoder with a Stamp ? Could share some circuit information and tips ?

I haven't done this per se, but you can use a PAK-VI to read a PS/2 mouse
directly and get position info that way.

The PAK-VII would be a good choice for reading the pulses direct from the
encoder if you were so inclined.
