Windows editor/debugger help?

I am a new user and getting familiar with the windows editor/debugger. Is
there a user's manual for it? I am using a PC with Windows 2000 OS and
finding that when I download a program using run, the program doesn't really
download and run util I open a debug terminal and select my connected com
port. But when I do this, the program downloads and runs fine but the
editor/debugger program hangs up everytime as soon as I try to do anything
with it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be going on? I
cannot find any documentation specific to the editor/debugger and how it
works?

Hi Kevin -

The Editor documentation can be found in the beginning of the Stamp Manual.
The Manual can be obtained in PDF format for free, from the Parallax web site.
The link to the web site is [ http://www.parallaxinc.com ],

Hope that helps

We've had similar problems under NT4. If you download a program
and it hangs, disconnect the serial cable from one end and the
program will run.

The other (more practical) solution is to maintain serial
communication with the Stamp by putting a debug statement
somewhere in your program (somewhere that gets accessed
often), even if you don't need it. The only problem with this is that
the editor often hangs when you try to close the debug session.

Although it's been out for forever-and-a-day, you should also realize
that the editor is still a beta version, and as such is prone to some
quirky.... ummm.... "features". :-)

I think you'll find the new version that is due out soon (to support
the BS2P) will fix-up a number of these little things.

<sarcasm on> Isn't Windows just wonderful ? <sarcasm off>
