hello !
I am trying to connect my old basic stamp2 but i always get the subject
message. basic stamp II detected but not responding ... check power supplie
.

The strange thing is that the stamp that i am currently using works just
fine .
so I dont think i have misconnect the power on this one.
I am using windows but I have also tried this through dos os, and I get the
hardware not found message.

I also have tried this with 3 different cables ( in case something is wrong
with the cable )

Is there a way to find out if I have destroyed the stamp ?

    Hi Elias -

Please make sure the Stamps are properly oriented, pushed FIRMLY in place,
that the power supply is providing full voltage, the serial cable pins are
not pitted or corroded from storage, and if you are using a Laptop, use the
power pack in lieu of the batteries.

Further information which may be required:

    Which Windows operating ?
Which Version of the Stamp editor ? [1]
Which COM PORTS appear in you BIOS setup ? [2]
Which serial port are you using ? [3]
Which serial port contains your Pointing Device
    (mouse, track ball, etc)
If MSD (Microsoft System Diagnostics) is available
the output may become an important tool to assist you

[1] New PBASIC Stamp Editors are available from the Parallax web site

[2] COM1/COM3 and COM2/COM4 share the same addresses

[3] If other than COM PORT 1 and the auto-port-select resistor is NOT
installed USE STAMP2.EXEC /n where n = serial port number

This should help ascertain the source of the problem.
