Fellow sufferers, please help me,
··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· After a moderate start with the BS2 board with our old PC, (it was such a *** having to disconnect the mouse from the serial port each time) But now we have a new PC with a spare serial port connection, well that is what the man in the shop said, and the BS2 lead fits nicely!! But we get up to the stage of running the programs to be told, " No hardware found"
Have tried STAMP2/ (1, 2, 3 AND 4! ) as advised but still, "No Hardware found".

··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· Please COM 2·and rescue me from my ignorance.

··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· Thanks Paul.··

    Hi Paul -

I have COM 2 but you didn't mention which operating system you are using : )

Nor did you mention which version of the Stamp Editor you are using.

Both of these would help to troubleshoot the problem.

    Additional questions to follow

    1) Make sure your serial port is turned "ON" and drivers are loaded. If DOS
or Windows, make sure the CMOS setup (the setup when you boot the computer
and press something like <DEL>) shows both COM ports active (if they are on
    the motherboard).

    2) If you are using Windows, go to Device Manager and check that under Ports
    you have COM1 and COM2.

    3) Make sure you don't have other software like a Palm Pilot hot sync or
anything else running that uses COM2.

    4) Since you have a serial mouse, put it in the 2nd port and start the
computer. Does the computer see the mouse on COM2? If not, you may not have
the port configured correctly or it may simply be faulty. If the mouse won't
work, the Stamp certainly won't work.

    Good luck!

I was having the same problem, and tried everything posted. I found one post
that helped a lot and it referred to something about a directive:

From Tracy Allen (Jan 04, 2001):

"Here are a couple more things for troubleshooting. The default stamp
mode may not do the trick. Be sure the program has the ".bse"
extension, and/or that it starts with the directive:
    '{$STAMP BS2e}"

I put the above at the start of a program I was trying to load and magic it
    worked.

Christopher, thank you so much! Have found the hardware via Windows!! MSDos
is still a lost cause!! Should I worry?
