Supplier question

I usually try to stick to the "hobbyist-friendly" component
suppliers - Digikey, Mouser, Jameco, JDR, RS, etc,
but I need a couple of parts that only Allied Electronics
(www.alliedelec.com) has in stock. Has anyone here
ever ordered from them? Are they fair when it comes
to shipping charges, as compared to the above companies?
Their prices are great, but I just want to make sure I'm not
going to get gouged on the S&H.

Thanks guys, and Happy Holidays!

Steve

Its been a while since I bought from Allied but the biggest complaint
I had was that they had a $50 or so minimum purchase. I don't remember
ever feeling "gouged" on shipping or anything else.

Sheesh ... last time I ordered from them, my $45 order went to $65 because
they shipped every single item I ordered in separate boxes!! That may have
been a HazMat requirement since I ordered PCB developer and TechSpray Flux
Remover spray (ie: maybe those two items had to be in boxes of their own).
It still seems rather silly to me.

I think they have a minimum order - $50 or $100 dollars. Don't know about
    the shipping.

I recently ordered from them (see my previous post) and only ordered $46
worth of stuff, and was not charged a minimum order fee. However, there
were two or three items which were no longer at catalog price ... online
pricing was higher, and was what I was billed.

Allied Electronics has a 25$ minimum order on personal accounts. At least
thats what I keep hearing and seeing on the web pages. I've never had a
problem with them. I also bought some thermal transfer epoxy from them a
while ago, and they had to ship it in seperate boxes, usually all shippers
require reactive materials to be in seperate boxes. I was hard pressed to
beat Allied's prices, and their service has been great (usually only takes
about 2 days to get what I ordered too).

They are one of my favorite suppliers, have only had one problem in 8 yrs.
Their on line catalogue is the most up to date. Have had some items that
were lower than printed catalogue when I ordered. They always bill
correctly, ship right away. One thing, tell them to hold the shipping until
all items are available, no partial orders. This will avoid additional S&H.
