NMEA to BS2P?

I've seen code to capture data from fields in a GPS sentence, but not for an
entire sentence. to capture an entire sentence, you must treat it as ASCII
data. However, there's lots of characters in a GPS sentence. I'd be
interested in seeing an example of capturing large portions of a GPS
sentence into RAM. Would the BS2P be capable of capturing an entire GPS
sentence, like the GGA or RMC sentence?

I believe I need only to find out how to structure the code
to "count" commas within the specific NMEA sentence using the
WAIT command. I really have no idea if that is how it will actually
work, but that is all the information I have come across so far.
Paul, have you seen code that "counts" commas within the NMEA
sentence? Is this a common thing?
oh help,

data from the GGA sentence. The data is read as DEC. Check my balloon
website, www.ksu.edu/humec/knsp/. You want to look at the code. I believe
it's under contrcuting the capsules.

no, let me stress that, no idea exactly how to write the code
to capture a specific portion of the sentence.
For example, for a test I was going to have the BS2 look at the
data status ("a" or "v") in the RMC sentence and lite up
a green led for good, red your dead (v).
If someone could spare a little time and show me exactly
how to so this I could really use the help. I have only had a
BS2 for a few weeks and regret not having an abundance of
skill, ah... but I do have a considerable amount of desire
if that counts for anything.
thank you all for your responses
Come to think of it, is anyone willing to write this code for me?
I can compensate, a little, for your time.
-Don
under the section about making the near space capsules. I have a copy of
code that you can use to read alttitude data from the GGA sentence.
