Does anyone know sources for 12volt dc motors with roughly 15 to 30 in.-lb. torque

·and rotations 12 to 50 revolutions per minute?

Also interested in built in shaft encoders.

Hi John -

Take a look at the specs on this:

21 RPM COLMAN, #FYQF 33700-40-5. 12 VDC permanent magnet gearhead motor.
Reversible, sleeve bearings. No load speed 28 rpm @ 0.050 amp.
With a 30 oz-in load the rpm is 21 @0.130 amp.

Shaft: 3/16" dia. x 3/4" long. The shaft has a 0.6" long flat.
The front face of the gearbox has tapped mounting holes. The holes are
tapped for #4X40 tpi screws. The bolt hole circle of the mounting holes
is approx. 1" dia. The motor has 7" wire leads.

Dimensions: 1-3/8" dia. x 2-1/2" long (excluding shaft).

Stock #DCGM9903 $17.50

If that meets your needs, they can be obtained at C and H Sales -

Hope that's what you were seeking. If not, contact me off list for other
surplus sites for DC motors.

Additionally, motors with shaft encoders are difficult to find as surplus
units. Usually separate shaft encoders are use, such as those made by
US Digital [ http://www/usdigital.com ] or Hewlitt Packard
(Agilent Technologies http://www.semiconductor.agilent.com/motion/ ).

Bruce or any stampers,

I am interested in the names of apprx. 3 or 4 manufacturers that would make
drive wheel motors for a hobby robot.

I do not have specific details except : 10-40 rpm, move up to a 20lb.
load, gearbox can be internal or external, 12volt , with or without
encoder.

If I can get in contact with the reps for the manufacturer I can the discuss
further details/requirements under their guidance since my requirements are
somewhat flexible.

Thanks for any and all help in advance,

John Bell

Hi John -

What kind of "drive wheel motor" ? Friction drive, belt drive, pulley drive,
gear drive, direct drive. You need more details. Excuse me for saying so, but
this is almost like saying I want to build a car.

Even before you talk to someone it would be wise to have some idea what you
want. Electro-mechanical design engineering is something folks do for a
living. I'd be happy to recommend someone, but this is hardly an
appropriate Stamp topic. Just MHO, of course.

I doubt you'd get to first base with those specs, but try these:

Brevel, Globe, Pittman, Micro-Mo, Delco, Bodine, G.E, Japan Servo, Maxon,
Clifton (Litton Poly-Scientific) and Buehler for starters. Most should be
available from nearly any search engine for web addresses.

>Thanks for any and all help in advance,
Yup, and Good luck !

so indicate, and I'll look for it, and send it. Is the address you've shown
okay
for PDF downloads ?
