i have been gone from this group for about a year. when i left there
was some discussion of software that could talk to the stamps using a
windows ce machine. did that ever happen? i tried to do it with a
TI85 hand held programable but i quickly ran out of time and got in
way over my head and gave it up. has anyone succeded in this? dispite
the cheapness of the hand held programable calculators i would opt
for a win ce machine if it worked with the stamp2 and SX chips.
anyone heard anything?

I'm very confident it won't work without major re-engineering of the
compiler. ·The DOS versions are written in x86 assembly language and the Win
compiler was developed with Inprise's (Borland) Delphi. ·As you're probably
aware, the API for desktop Windows and WinCE is dramatically different. ·Even
if the editor would work, the program as a whole wouldn't because the
tokenizer (even the one used by the Win compiler) is written is x86 assembler.
I really like WinCE but wouldn't consider writing Stamp programs on my Nino.
I "play" from time-to-time with PocketC (www.orbworks.com) and I'm thrilled
that they now have a desktop editor.

changing a variable like what temperature to turn a circuit off/on?
or, are are you talking about up/downloading programs?
Seems like the serial communication to output stored
data like from a data logger to a CE or Palm should
not be excessive.
Anybody know if just downloading or reading data, like a
remote LCD could be done easily?

working with the basic stamp II shortly after that (before i could down load
it) they disappeared. anyone know what happened to them? is there a windows
ce program available that will do the same thing with any of the stamp or
mic chips? i get tired of dragging a six pound "portable" around.
You don't say if you want ot program or just upload a program.
If you just want to upload, check out Tracy Allen's page
http://www.emesystems.com/index.html
and check out the STACHE unit.
Actual programming.... Maybe someone else knows about
the site/program you mentioned.

I would like to be able to make program changes onsite. If anyone
knows of this software being available please let me know where I
can find it.
Thank you for your help,
Steve
I just finished a serial and object file downloader
for windows written in visual basic and posted it to
this group. I am now working on a object file loader
for win ce and palm. By this I mean, you can create a
program with the parallax ide and save as an object
file and then use you pocketpc to upload it to the
stamp. When Parallax makes a tokenizer dll for ce , I
will write something like an ide for win ce.
Good luck,

I am wondering if there will ever be a Stamp Editor for the "IPAC".
I would like to be able to make program changes onsite. If anyone
knows of this software being available please let me know where I
can find it.
