Goto egroups.com and search the basicstamps archive, you will get you many
messages about laser displays. I can't answer much more about this
allthough what I've read here it seems most results have been marginal on
performance.

I do not recall anyone asking about DXF file conversion before, but this
forum is quite off from graphics. But since your question ties the two
together here is some info.

DXF files are ASCII text files arranged in sections and can be easily
translated for other purposes. Here are some links to learning the DXF
format.

There are also many web sites with software available for reading DXF files
and creating code for everything from homebuilt machines to industrial
machining centers.

Subject: [basicstamps] vector display - how do I get from here to there?

Hello,
I would like to use a stamp to drive 2 coils that in turn would drive two
mirrors in the X-Y planes, in order to bounce a laser off of them. creating
a vector display.

My question is:
has anyone had experience converting CAD drawings to a form that the stamp
could use do drive these actuators? What are the steps one takes to get from
a CAD drawing to a driven actuator?
I have a feeling that this is a VERY similar function to driving the X-Y
tables on a mill, just faster.

Any Ideas, or hints as to where to look out there?
regards, Ed
