well basically I just built the basic stamp 2 kit
version, and have no idea where to attach my 9 volt
power supply to. Thanks.

I'm assuming that you have Parallax part #27291--OEM Basic Stamp II kit. If
not, ignore the following and let us know what kit you have.

According to the photos on, and the schematics at the bottom of, the page
http://www.parallaxinc.com/html_files/products/oem_stamp_brief.asp, wouldn't
it be:

+9VDC == VIn pin
0VDC == Vss pin

Take a close look at your schematic and verify that is the case.

The Vdd pin is for the externally regulated +5VDC power. In that case, 0VDC
still goes to Vss pin.
