What in the world is the BS2E? Did I miss something?

The BS2e is very identical to the BS2sx (8 program slots and scratchpad RAM)
except that it runs at 20 MHz (standard BS2 speed) and, consequently,
consumes less current. ·You can distinguish a BS2e from the others by its red
PCB.

Hi William,
The only difference between the BS2e and the BS2sx is that the BS2e
runs slower. Why would you want a chip to run slower?
1) The BS2e is compatible with the original BS2, for example, the
timing of the SEROUT or PULSOUT commands are the same on the BS2e and
BS2, so that the same program will work the same on either one.
Moving a program from the BS2 to a BS2sx usually requires changes in
the timing parameters.
2) The BS2e runs much cooler, lower power than the BS2sx, important
if you are running a project from batteries or solar.
