Parallax is releasing a new Stamp next month called the BS2p. It is faster
than the BS2-SX, draws less current and has native support for I2C, Dallas
1-Wire and parallel LCD displays. My "Stamp Applications" column in the
December issue of Nuts & Volts focuses on the BS2p.

You may want to look back at this message from last month:
CHIPKEN@a... 11/18/2000 Re: [basicstamps] LCD Display Interfacing
QUOTE
Parallax showed their new BASIC Stamp, BS2p, at the Embedded Show last month
which takes care of the LCD interface better than that chip interface you are
talking about. It uses nearly the same command format as that provided for
the "serin and serout"

That's good news, but by "next month" you mean
January? The Parallax website search disavows any
knowledge of a "BS2p".

Should be shipping mid-to-late January. I just returned to Dallas from a
visit to Parallax -- the BS2p definitely exists.

Jon,
I looked for the Nuts and Volts this afternoon, but it is not on our
newstands yet. How fast is the BS2p?
Thanks,
Michael
The BS2p will work in my spiffy new INex board and it will have
built in support for recieving X10 commands.
I'll cross my fingers now and hold my breath waiting on an
answer.. :)

Speed is very subjective with an interpreter but generally, the BS2p is
considered about 20% faster (about 12,000 instructions per second) than the
BS2-SX. The bonus is that it draws less current than the BS2-SX and there is
a new command that allows you to used EE in another program bank as storage
and retrieval without actually having to switch programs. This will be great
for datalogging apps.

It will definitely work in your INEX board (that's where mine lives) but does
not have X-10 input commands.
