Eltec Pyroelectric Sensor on a BSII

Hello: Has anyone used the Eltec Pyroelectric Sensor 442-3 interfaced to
there BSII ?
According to the website the Eltec sensor has interface schematics to use
with the Stamp. How well does this sensor work for detecting people and animals?
I want to create a small robot that will follow a dog, is this sensor
accurate enough for this? Do I need more then one of these sensors, maybe
one facing left, and another right on the robot, or does the sensor output a
range of values? I hate to spend the $49 if this will not do what I really
want. Does anyone else have other ideas for detecting a small dog and having
the robot follow the dog?
Sincerely
Kerry

    Hello,

I am myself at this time about to try to hookup a Eltec Pyroelectric
Sensor 442-3 to my Stamp 2E. I know right off the bat that you want
to have an A/D converter because the Sensor sends out a voltage
depending on the object (moving from right to left, moving from left
to right). I believe the voltage it sends out is between 2.5 and 5
volts DC. I have to get my datasheets out for the sensor to make sure
of all of this, but I remember it outputting a voltage depending on
what went to the left or right of it.

The one I have already came with a lens, however I know that you can
    build your own lens.
