Where was Parallax at COMDEX???

Hi Matt,

Yes, Parallax was absent from the show this year. But there was some robotic
equipment present. irobot.com is here (at the Sands), and although a $5,000
solution, was an interesting example of what is possible.

I am stuck here for another few days and hope to make it through the rest of
the booths today!

John

It was my favorite booth... the best time to get the latest info and
projects.... where were they?

Comdex kind of sucked this year, I didnt see any robotics or electronics
companies. I wonder why...

    Hi Matt!

Well, I guess you could say I also thought COMDEX . . . well, as you put it
"sucked" last year so we decided to skip this year. We were sandwiched
between mouse pads and cable suppliers. We have been attending COMDEX out of
habit for several years, and it was time for a break for once.

Instead, we decided to teach instructors how to program BASIC Stamps at
several locations across the U.S. (part of our Stamps in Class program), and
stay here at the office to work on some new products we think you will
    appreciate.

If I may speak as a marketing person, another reason we skipped COMDEX is
that the value of the Las Vegas was flat because COMDEXes are now held in
every developed country around the world and the number of foreign visitors
was stagnant in Las Vegas. Return per dollar just isn't as high as it is
    with other marketing opportunities.

Next year we will probably attend, and I'm sorry we missed eachother this
    year.

Our new catalog is available in December.

    Sincerely,

    Ken Gracey, Parallax

Don't forget that Sony has there pack of dogs on display, Aibo.

Can't blame anyone for not paying the high price for conventions any
more. 10 years ago it was the only way to see the latest and greatest.
The days of Vaporware at shows seems to be gone. Now, you just surf
the net. I vote with Parallax, use the money for r&d. Now if we could
just get Ken to spill the beans on what they are working on in the
    secret lab..........
