Is there any way to use the Parallax Board of Education with a
Power Macintosh 7200/120 PC Compatible computer? This is
an older Mac that contains a PC compatibility card with a
pentium chip. The PC compatibility card has a 15 pin joystick
port and a 26 pin video port. There are also 2 unused PCI slots.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Doug Foster

of your Mac even with the PC card and whether you may be able to find or
make a conversion cable to connect to the BOE board itself. On older Macs
the serial port is a Geoport, yours may vary. There's info at
http://www.mindspring.com/~jc1/serial/main.html for Mac serial port
interfacing. Once you've figured out how to make the cable, you still have
the problem of whether the Stamp software can use the port to connect to the
stamp. An alternative might be to find a cheap PC or laptop even and use
their ports. At swapmeets some older laptops run in the $50 range. And the
DOS software for the stamp does work well. I really do hope you can figure
out how to do it on the Mac, as there are a few people out there that are
wanting to use them to work with the Stamp.

serial LCD interface IC (171951). I want to control the LCD from my
Basic Stamp2SX, but I haven't got it working. Will the 171951 work
with the 185181? Thank you.
Look in the stampworks manual pages 65 through 71 and see if you can hook-up
the LCD the same way as shown and
us the program in the book. I think the Stampworks book is available for
download from www.parallaxinc.com or
www.stampsinclass.com in PDF format. I think you only need the LCD to make it
work.
