Led Interface

Hello,
I want to interface a basic stamp to an LED on a piece of equipment and use
this as an input. I am just wondering what sort of component I should use.
Maybe an optoisolator or a transistor? What do you think? I know this is
probably an elementary question, but that is pretty much the level I am at.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian Symons

    Dear Brian,
Use a 1n24 opto isolator/NPN and this will work fine You can look at:
    THE MICROCONTROLLER APPLICATION COOKBOOK"
BY Matt Gilliland. sold by parallax on p105 it shows exactly what you need.
If you want I will offer to copy the page and fax to you or scan and e-mail
    as a friendly gesture
